Obituary

Steven John Marquez was born to Richard and Evelyn on January 31, 1963. Growing up he was very close to his brother Greg they were always together getting in trouble together. He served his country as a marine and was proud of it. He also was a boxer and went to work for his father's painting company for many years. He was diagnosed with cancer but he fought it and survived. Steve loved sports and he even attended all of his nephew Joe's games as he was a coach for high school football. he loved to quote lines from movies and soap operas and came up with nicknames for people. He was real good at mimicking people. He had such an ability to make you laugh and he had an unforgettable mischievous laugh when he was saying a line or making fun of someone. He is survived by his parents Evelyn, Richard and Sue, grandmother Jessie, brothers Richard, Mike, Kenny, Greg, Nick and Anthony, Sisters Debbie, Eileen, Stacy and Susan and many nieces and nephews. He will forever be loved and missed by his family.

Just want to stop and take a moment to honor my brother Steve. Yesterday was his last day spent on earth......tho its sad that my dad has to feel such pain losing a child, as well as my mom, I have visions of him being healthy, happy and whole and enjoying other family members. We are a big family 8 brothers 5 sisters and it was some tough times but Steve he endured. After highschool he went on to become a marine and he was a very proud marine. He got home and not long after found out he had cancer that went to his brain and yes he endured as well. He lived many yrs after showing his strength and not giving up. But yesterday God sent him to have his eternal life and health and happiness and for this reason i am thankful to God that he's given my brother paradise. So Steve I want to let you know that i'm a proud sister and i know your going to be a great asset in heaven, and a great guardian angel......love ya. Sister Stacy Marquez
In Memory Steven John Marquez 1/31/63-5/14/18

As Steve's baby sister I have so many good memories of him always saying or doing something to get me to laugh. We shared conversations about sports especially my favorite basketball team, the Spurs he would try to antagonize me that they weren't going to win the playoffs but then they would. I remember he was a big fan of Jalen Rose. We spent time together watching basketball. He was such a good uncle and loved his nieces and nephews. He had nicknames for my kids. My daughter from the time she was a baby up until she was grown he called her baby boo boo's. My youngest he nicknamed Travieso but was always encouraging him to become a boxer. My husband said to me after Steve passed "babe your brother loved you, you could be all the way over there and he would be calling for you to get your attention just to make you laugh or figure out what movie he was quoting." That brought me so much joy and I can say I feel so privileged and blessed to have him as my brother and will forever hold all the good times and laughs in my heart. I love you Steve and will miss you.
