Ruth Casillas Orosco 1940-2019
Ruth Virginia Casillas Orosco passed at home after a long battle with pulmonary disease on February 11, 2019.
Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Louis Orosco, as well as her beloved daughter, Karla Orosco, her brother Macario Casillas, her sister Carmen Ochoa (William), the Resendez Family, and the large extended Orosco & Casillas families.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Macario and Maria De Jesus Casillas, three sisters (Rita, Maria & Eva), six brothers (Raymond, Joe, Peter, Johnny, Paul & Adam), and her son, Mark Orosco.
Ruth was born in Hanford on April 1, 1940. She was the eleventh of twelve children and grew up on Phillips Street. She graduated from Hanford High in 1959 and later from College of the Sequoias, majoring in business. She married Louis Orosco on May 20, 1967. She worked at Armstrong Tire Company for several years, and Beacon Oil Company before taking four years off to enjoy the high school years of Karla and Mark. She later retired from the Internal Revenue Service. In her younger years, Ruth was an avid bowler. Ruth was a wonderful wife and mother, supporting her family through numerous athletic teams and other school activities. She loved shopping for gifts for all her family celebrations. For years, Ruth played Bingo at the Tachi Palace and was a winner several times. Ruth and Louie were able to travel in their retirement years going on cruises, trips to Las Vegas or Laughlin, and other weekend trips. Ruth loved keeping track of and in touch with all her nieces and nephews. As her disease progressed, she loved communicating with friends and family via social media and texting. She ended every evening with a rosary and scripture reading.
A rosary is scheduled at 9:30am and a funeral mass at 10am on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, and followed by a reception for family and friends at the Fraternal Hall. Donations in memory of Ruth can be made to any Catholic Charity, SPCA, or American Lung Association. Condolences can be sent to the family c/o Yost & Web Funeral Care.
