Obituary

Robert McMahan, better known as Bob, 75, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on April 15, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends.  His passing leaves a huge hole in the hearts of so many.

Bob was born in Alhambra, Ca on December 27, 1947, to Robert & Vivian "Cookie" McMahan.  Bob had one younger sister, Peggy Stripling.  Bob was a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America and loved telling stories about his camping trips to Catalina Island with his dad.  While in high school he enjoyed playing on the tennis team.  Bob graduated from Cal Poly with a history degree where he made many great memories with his roommates Joe McGahan and Raymond Stripling.  Bob would work at the family gas station on the weekends.

Bob enlisted in the Army in March of 1971; he proudly served his country for 3 years.

Bob and Dona met at Lakeside Community Church.  They spent 46 wonderful years happily married and started a beautiful life together.  They had three children who started the next chapter of Bob's life as Grandpa.

Bob's greatest joy was his family.  He loved his grandchildren and attending sporting and school events, family parties, and getting a special treat at his favorite fast-food restaurants.  Bob loved making memories at Disneyland with his family.  He spent many weekends playing cards with his best friends Jim and Linda Black.

Bob spent over 25 years working at College of Sequoias and was loved and adored by all.

Bob was a kind, generous and loving man who loved and protected the people he loved with fierce devotion.  He was a joyous person to be around, always finding the positive in every situation.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Vivian McMahan.

Bob is survived by his wife Dona McMahan, daughter Lori Buwalda, daughter Jill Chrisman, son-in-law Chuck Chrisman, son Brian McMahan, grandchildren Parker, Payton, Preston Buwalda, Baylee, Connor, Cooper Chrisman and Mallory, BobbiJean, Kayden McMahan.  Sister Peggy Stripling, brother-in-law Raymond Stripling and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family is exceedingly grateful for all the friends and family that have offered prayers and support during his illness and passing.  We offer a special thank you to Margaret Salyer and Oyuna Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
