Obituary

Remembering the life, and legacy of Rick Harrell, better known as "POPS" he was born in Visalia, California, to Dixon and Betty Jo Harrell on November 11, 1946, and left this earth March 16, 2021, at the age of 74 years in Fresno, California. He will always be remembered as a mountain lover.

He attended Lemon Cove Elementary School then graduated from Exeter High School. After high school he started working at JC Penney's as a sales clerk,  then a deliver driver at Knudson. He then went on to work from Vulcan Materials formally Sequoia Rock, and retired from there .

He loved his country and served in the Army during the Vietnam war where he was stationed in Germany with his late wife and first-born son, Rick. After a few years he came back to his hometown in Visalia, California where a second son was born Scott. They continued living in the area until he retired and made North Folk his final home.

Pops loved country music and loved to dance. One day he went to a dance and he could not keep his eyes off a beautiful slender woman, her name was Susan, he called her Susie. To which he married on January 11, 1992 in Reno, Nevada.

Rick was loved by all that were fortunate to have known him. He loved to watch his western movies, staying up to date on his politics, and listening to his country music, but most of all just staying home and enjoying the serenity of the mountains. He liked siting outside in the evenings with his wife and watching the falling stars. Spending time with his four-legged friend Jordan.

He is survived by his wife, Susan: two sons, Rick, and Scott and wife Veronica; stepson; Kevin; four grandchildren Blake, Bailey, Kiri, and Jake; sister Sheila and husband John King; brother Ron and his wife Susie Harrell; two nieces, Lisa, and Stacie; one nephew Shane. He also leaves behind his furry babies, his dog Jordan and his cat Katie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepson Robert and nephew Kevin.
