It is with great sadness that the family of Ray Albert Memmott announces his passing on Tuesday, January 30 at the age of 87 years. Ray was born August 22, 1930 to Ray and Lilian (Alvigi) Memmott in San Francisco, California. He graduated from Balboa High School in 1948.
Ray served in the US ARMY Third Infantry Division during the Korean War. Upon finishing his service, in 1953 Ray married Jone Taylor. At the time of Jone's passing in 2011 they had celebrated 58 years of marriage. Throughout the 1950s and early 1960s Ray was active in Western Auto Racing, driving the 101 car. A long time resident of Fresno California, Ray worked at Cargill as a maintenance foreman.
Ray will be lovingly remembered by his children Karen, Todd, Mike, and Dennis, their spouses — Ger, Sarah, Fiona, Esther; and his nine grandchildren — Ray, Renaya, Samantha, Taylor, Andrew, Shelby, Liam, Paloma, and Callum. Ray was always supportively involved in his children's lives — as a soccer and baseball coach, as a leader for youth organizations, as the Hoover High Booster president, and all-around great dad.
A celebration of life and open house in memory of Ray will be held on Tuesday, February 6 6:30-9:00 pm at his home. For information please call (559) 419-0485
Memorial donations in memory of Ray may be made to the American Diabetes Association, The National Kidney Foundation, Wounded Warriors, or Fresno/Clovis YoungLife.
