Mike Spicer passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on September 21st, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Mike was a beloved husband, father, papa, son, brother, brother-in-law and uncle, as well as a friend to many. He is survived by his wife, Kim, children Brian (Kimberlee), Andrew (Sereana), Amy Spicer, Miranda (Johnny) Jaramillo and Kory (Courtney) Doran. Also, his mother, Carole Geschke, siblings Julie, Patrick, Ted, Lisa, Lucy & Kelly and his Outzen brothers & sisters-in-law. Also, his beloved grandkids Trenten, Sylas, Kaiden, Skylor & Kinley Spicer, Charlotte Enriquez, Jason, Jamison, Layla & Jett Jaramillo and Eleanore & Gwen Doran. He was preceded in death by father William Spicer & step-father Kenn Geschke.

Mike was born May 27, 1954, at Sewart AFB in Tennessee. He grew up in the Cleveland, Ohio area (Brook Park) and joined the Marines in 1974, assigned as a Military Policeman. In 1978 he joined the California Highway Patrol working 27 years, including patrolman, Narcotics Task Force and Dignitary Protection for 5th District Court of Appeals.

Mike also spent some time in the Navy Reserves and retired from the Coast Guard Reserves, for combined military service of 31 + years. Activated one week after 9/11 as one of the first Sea Marshals (Department of Homeland Security) he subsequently had 2 more state- side activations before retiring from the Coast Guard in 2005.

He was an active cyclist and enjoyed doing organized bike rides around California with his wife, Kim.

One of Mike's greatest joys was cooking his famous pasta and meatballs for his family and friends.

He received his MBA from Touro University in 2004 and put it to work in post-CHP careers as Security Director for Kaiser Permanente (Fresno), Sutter Health (Burlingame) and Adventist Health (Hanford). Mike later worked as an independent Security Consultant through the Outzen-Spicer Group, alongside his daughter, Amy, until the time of his diagnosis in March.

Mike was an active volunteer. He was a past mentor at the Kings County Juvenile Center. He was president of the Hanford Youth Football League in the late 90's and coached the Bruins (which son Kory played on). He organized the first-ever Glacier Bowl, bringing a team from Juneau, AK to play Hanford players, twice.

Serving on the Hanford High School Board (HJUHSD) he was president for a term. One of his proudest moments was being able to hand daughter, Miranda, her diploma at graduation.

Mike got the acting bug in 2005, joining Kim at the Temple Theatre in his first production, MASH, and acted in ten plus productions, many alongside Kim. Mike joined the board and was board president for several terms. One of his shining achievements was helping the theatre become wheelchair accessible.

He was also Vice Commandant for the Marine Corps League and was a major organizer of the Avenue of the Flags at Grangeville Cemetery, proudly carrying the flag for the U.S. Coast Guard yearly. He was also a CHP Senior Volunteer.

Mike was a grateful member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Hanford and treasured the church family for upholding him, always.

The family would like to thank Gary Lopez of Focus Home Health for his wonderful care of Mike over the last 5 months.
