Maria L.
Flores
July 9, 1932 – March 29, 2025
Maria L. Flores of Huron, California was born in Santiago Ixcuintla, Nayarit, Mexico. She was the beautiful daughter of Pedro Flores and Refugio Navarrete, whom themselves had four other children (Virgen, Maria, Anita and son Primitivo). Maria a.k.a., Jechu (beautiful mother) passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, March 29, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was 93. Maria had eight children: Dolores, Lourdes, Arturo, twins Sandra and Maria Elena, Raquel, Alfredo, and Pita.
Maria in her life's journey would find her way, along with her best friend Rosita, to the Central California the town of Huron. This little town in the I-5 corridor, was the U.S. agricultural capital, and she and her best friend Rosita decided to plant roots here.
In Huron, Maria worked in all types of crops that surrounded the town, becoming a very skilled worker. She was a very hard worker and devoted mother and an incredible cook. Maria was known by almost all in the town, and she established great relationships. She was very loving and caring. Her children were first, and she always led by example. She was noble, understanding, affectionate, fair, funny, and had an incredible and contagious sense of humor. Above all, she was a fighter and taught her children to never give up in the face of adversary, and to meet life's challenges with a smile and great expectations.
After her hard-working years, Maria retired and devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. Maria loved her new 24-hour mother/grandmother job, but she would always find a way to a thrift store, swap meet or a garage sale. She would load up her car with all of her children to these events, where they would all fall in love with the art of the deal just by watching her haggle a .25 cent item down to .5 cents! She was a great negotiator and always came home from these events with a smile from ear to ear, not to mention the trunk full of treasures.
Maria lived a wonderful and meaningful life surrounded by all her loved ones and friends, where she would reach the young age of 93. Maria is survived by daughters: Dolores, Lourdes, the twins Sandra and Nena, sons Arturo and Alfredo, along by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maria is now in heaven with her little one, Pita, where she is being comforted and loved. We know what you're thinking mom, "are there any garage sales and thrift stores here in heaven"?
