Louis Martinez Orosco
September 19, 1942 to June 27, 2024
Louis "Louie" passed away peacefully in Hanford, CA on June 27, 2024, at the age of 81. He was surrounded by his family all week while on hospice. Louie is survived by his siblings: René Orosco (Bridgette), Ninfa Coulbourne (James), and Arthur Orosco; his daughter, Karla Orosco; his bonus children Joe Resendez (Gabby) of Clovis, Candis Desrosiers of Clovis; bonus grandchildren: Ariel Tovar (Joshua) of Clovis, Jose Resendez (Sarah) of Salt Lake City, UT, Daniel Resendez (Marlen) of Fresno, and Nathaniel Resendez of Clovis; bonus great-grandchildren: Zechariah, Miah, and Joshua Louie Tovar; and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents Louis Sr. and Claudia Orosco, his wife Ruth Casillas Orosco, his son Mark Orosco, and his siblings Valdo Orosco, Minerva Cavasos, Leonor Hernandez, Baldomero Orosco and Josie Chavez preceded him in death.
Louie was born on September 19, 1942 in Beeville, Texas, to Louis Sr. and Claudia Orosco. As a child, he enjoyed school. At Tulare Union HS, he wrestled and played football while also working for Salyer Farms. After high school, he learned how to weld. He worked 25 years for Safeway Milk Plant until it closed, then finished at Danish Creamery until he retired at age 55. He then worked ten years as a security guard at The Tachi Palace. He also had second jobs at Ken's Cork n Bottle, B&E Liquor store, did handyman work for Kings County Properties, and had a lawn service.
Louie was a beloved father and husband with a big smile and a love for helping people. He was a CIF umpire for many years and he coached soccer, little league, and softball while Karla and Mark played. He was Kings County Volunteer of the year in 1987 for all his work at Hanford High School Athletic Events. He and his buddies loved barbecuing tri-tip at homecomings, the Kings Fair, and many other events. His happy place was always next to a lake fishing with Mark and other family members, or with his buddy, Steve. His children, grandchildren, friends, and niece and nephews all have stories about something humorous Louie had done. He struggled the last few years with dementia and other illnesses, but he still enjoyed watching John Wayne and other westerns, Rachel Maddow, and sports with his dog, Blanca, on his lap. Karla would like to thank her cousin, Gracie Pomaville, and Taryn Sweeney for helping her care for Louie at home before he moved to Kings Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in August 2023 after multiple health issues.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Louie's life with a graveside service (at niches) on Tuesday, July 9th at 10am at Calvary Cemetery; 11680 S. 10th Avenue, Hanford, CA, with a reception and catered lunch to follow at The Carnegie Museum of Kings County at 109 E. Eighth Street. The family would like to thank Kings Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for all of their care and support this past year. Condolences can be sent to the family c/o Yost & Webb Funeral Home.
