Linda May Thomas, 71, of Laton, CA passed away July 28, 2018 after a long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Linda, popularly known as "Mommer", was a woman of faith and family. On May 1, 1965 Linda married Gaylord Thomas and together they built a strong, loving, family with their 5 children. Linda worked for 30+ years as a teacher's aide for Laton Unified School District. In her early years she volunteered countless hours and served on many boards including the Mother's Club, Home and School Club, Little League, softball, basketball and football. In 1991, Linda was honored as volunteer of the year by LUSD and in 1995 she was recognized as Laton's Citizen of the Year for her dedication to the youth and community of Laton.
Linda was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Laton. Throughout her life time she served as a lector, CCD teacher and Director of Religious Education. Linda belonged to the Altar Society and served as a past President and was also a member of the UPPEC Lodge #103. Most recently Linda was a devout member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas court Blessed Jacinta and served as a past Regent and current Treasurer.
Family was most important to Linda and being together was her favorite. Linda was a huge supporter of anything for the youth of her community. She carried an aura of grace, love and compassion for everything and everyone who surrounded her. Being in her presence was always a blessing and a comfort to all.
Linda is survived by her 5 children, Dawn (Steven) deVries, Jason (Tracey) Thomas, Justin (Annie) Thomas, Brad (Sadie) Thomas and Kari (Rich) Olson all of Laton, 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Doris Edmiston of Escondido CA, Geraldine (Eddie) Warmerdam of Hanford CA, one brother Eugene (Connie) Perry of Laton CA and vast family members and friends.
Linda was proceeded in Death by her husband of 52 years, Gaylord Thomas, one grandson, Carter Anthony Thomas and one great granddaughter, Sophia Renay Ramos
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 6:00pm on August 2, 2018 and Mass of Christian burial will be held August 3, 2018 at 10:00am. Both will take place at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Laton. Following the mass Linda & Gaylord Thomas will be laid to eternal rest together at Oak Grove Cemetery.
