He is survived by his wife Maria Luisa Herrera Reyes. He also leaves behind his sons Daniel, Mario, and Ramon Reyes Rodriguez, and his daughters Maria Eugenia, Guadalupe, and Claudia. His 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Jose is further survived by his brother, Domingo, and by his sisters Rosa, Socorro, Josefina, and Angelica. Each of them carries forward treasured memories of his life, his love, and the bond they shared with him.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jose Luis, whose memory remained part of Jose’s life and family story.
