Obituary

Frances Alice Stammer

March 1, 1922- January 21, 2026

(Age 103, 39 days shy of her 104th birthday!)

Frances was born in Greenwood, South Carolina to Annie and George Mayson. She grew up on a farm along with her brother James. Some might say, especially her brother, that she was a bit spoiled by her father. Of course, Frances did not agree.

Marriage to her second husband made her a Navy wife and a mother to her only child, Judy, who she loved beyond words. The Navy also meant many moves which eventually brought them to California, San Diego to be exact and then to Garden Grove where she lived for 30 years and finally to Hanford to be closer to her family, where she spent the last 26 years of her life.

Anyone who knew Frances knew that purple was her favorite color, she always had a healthy appetite (especially for a good hamburger), she loved her 7-up and Dr. Pepper, and her cars (especially her '61 Lincoln). She enjoyed spending time with close friends over the years and she loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and husbands. She is survived by her daughter Judy and husband Pete Koopmans, her grandchildren, Francine and Skip Kocina, Sharon and Rob Hempton, Pete Koopmans and Tiffany Walker. Her great grandchildren Noah, Gabriella, and Vivian Hempton.

She saw many things in her long life, the great depression, several wars, and the tragic loss of her first husband. She was a very stubborn, independent lady that lived life on her terms good or bad. She fought to the very end!

Thank you to her many, many caregivers over the years, especially Andrea and Izzie and to the staff at Hanford Post Acute as well as the doctors and nurses at Adventist Health.
