Edgar Favila, affectionately known as Big Ed, passed on Sunday, April 28th, 2024, after 50 years of life.

Edgar was born August 2nd, 1973, in Ciudad de Mexico to Silvino & Lourdes Favila. He was raised in Sanger, CA; he was very proud of his small-town upbringing. Edgar played football in high school, graduating from Sanger High. He went on to earn a degree in Social Work from Fresno City College in 2004. Edgar was confident that his greatest achievement in life was raising his 4 children.

Edgar was a devout man – he wrote and performed many songs singing praise to God. During his years in Fresno, CA, he was a prominent figure of the St. John's Catholic Church community. He was a guitarist and singer at the Saturday night worship group preceding Sunday Mass. In fact, this is where he really learned to play and perform. Inspired by Selena, he created a family band which rehearsed many times throughout the years. He remained a singer and performer for the rest of his life. A skilled lyricist, he wrote many beautiful songs and poems - most of which he kept to himself. Anyone who has ever had the privilege of reading one of his serious poems or songs knows the depth of his beautiful mind.

Edgar's life will continue to be celebrated by his children, grandchildren, mother, siblings, nieces & nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Silvino.

Edgar's playful spirit lives on in our laughter and songs. An excerpt from his song titled "Beatitudes" –

"When one life ends, another is born. Rejoice and be glad and life won't go bad."

Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday May 15th, 2024, at 9:30am at Time in Destiny Church: 1028 P. St, Sanger, CA. Service follows from 10:00am to 11:00am. Burial is scheduled for 11:30am at Sanger Cemetery: 568 S. Rainbow Rd, Sanger, CA
