Bryce A.
Downing
November 17, 1967 – June 19, 2022
In Loving Memory
Bryce Downing, 54, passed away peacefully at his home in Hanford California on June 19, 2022.
Born in Delano California on November 17, 1967, he was the son of Millard and Carol Downing. Bryce spent his childhood in the same area and attended Lemoore High School where he graduated in 1985. Shortly after graduation, Bryce went to work for the family insurance business where he assumed ownership when his parents retired. Bryce met the girl of his dreams, Marlyn, in his early twenties and knew he couldn't live without her. They were married a short time later, made their home in Hanford and started their family. Raising two spirited young men (Logan and Austin) kept Bryce and Marlyn on their toes, but Bryce loved every minute of it. His boys meant the world to him, and he was always proud to speak of their success and accomplishments. In 2021 Bryce became a grandfather for the first time to a beautiful baby girl (Olivia). She immediately became the apple of his eye. As of late, Bryce was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his second grandchild in November of this year. It's safe to say, these babies took his heart hostage and never let go.
Bryce was a deacon of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Armona for most of his life. From a young age, Bryce enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, fishing, camping and most outdoor activities. Bryce always looked forward to his annual trips to Pismo Beach with friends and Shaver Lake with family, fishing trips with his father-in-law, coaching baseball for his boys, family holiday dinners and spending time around a firepit telling stories and laughing with friends. Bryce will forever be remembered for his love of music and singing, his laugh, infectious smile, love for family and his crazy dance moves.
Bryce is survived by his wife Marlyn of 31 years, his two sons and daughter in laws, Logan & Irais and Austin & Cortney, his granddaughter Olivia, his parents Millard & Carol, his sister and brother-in-law Yvonne & Robert Kurtz, his nephew Seth Kurtz & his wife Katie, his nephew Cameron Kurtz, his father in law Milo Brown and his sister in law Shirley Kishel.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday June 25, 2022, at 11am at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Armona. A reception will immediately follow at the church auditorium.
The family asks that I lieu of sending flowers, a donation be made in the name of Bryce Downing to the Valley Children's Place, 9300 Valley Children's Place, Madera, CA. 93636. Contact Volunteer Services for details, 559-353-3000.
